1932 Living History
We anticipate resuming time travel to 1932 Jacksonville in February 2023. New York Governor Franklin Roosevelt will be running for President. Groucho Marx will be on the radio. Miners will again be digging up Jacksonville streets, and hobos will be hoping for hand outs.
The Beekman parents will have passed away and the “children,” Carrie and Ben, will be in Jacksonville for the weekend closing up their 1873 family home with the help of family members and friends. And you are invited to visit!
Time travel almost a century and experience Depression Era Jacksonville. Step into the 1930s, interacting with Carrie and Ben, their Aunt Kate and their former housekeeper as they sort through family belongings, comment on 1932 local and national events, and reminisce about life in the late 1800s in one of Southern Oregon’s most prominent pioneer families.
These special Living History tours will be offered at Jacksonville’s historic Beekman House Museum, located at 470 E. California Street, at 10:30 and 11:30 am, and 1 and 2 pm. Admission is $10. Tours are limited to 8 people and are not recommended for children under 10.
Other dates may be possible for group bookings of 8 to 10 people. Weekday group bookings between May and September may also include either a picnic lunch or a “strawberry tea” for an additional $20 per person.

The finest living history I have ever witnessed! ~Linda S.
The crew was outstanding! Loved the way the brother and sister bickered a bit. So realistic! ~Larry S.
During my days as Chief of Interpretation at Pecos National Historical Park, we conducted living history presentations. None of ours were as lively and professional as the Beekman House presentation. ~Christine B.
That was such a wonderful experience today. You all did a fabulous job in bringing history alive. Thank you for a fun afternoon. ~Leslie S.
