International Order of Odd Fellows

October 21, 2014

Judge Silas Day is credited with founding Jacksonville’s Lodge No. 10 of the International Order of Odd Fellows. Beginning with 15 members in the 1850s, the Lodge quickly attracted many prominent local residents. Day founded other chapters around the state, and for many years was Grand Master of the Order’s Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana chapters. Even on horseback, it required a year and three days to visit them all.
