Join us again in 2024 for some very “spirited” evenings!

Here in Jacksonville, we take our history very seriously and we recognize the legacy that the pioneers left for us.  We also recognize that some of our pioneers are still with us in the forms of spirits and ghosts.

Hear more about these “restless” former residents on Historic Jacksonville’s “Haunted History” walking tours when costumed tour guides share both history and tales of pioneers whose spirits still dwell in many of our historic buildings.

These tours are not your typical ‘ghost tours’ with special effects.   They are history tours about real hauntings resulting from past events.  The stories—some scary, some benign—come from multiple sources, from people who have experienced these lingering spirits.  They are our attempt to recognize and honor these restless souls.

Two completely different 1-hour tours will be offered, and both tours include lots of haunted houses!

The Courthouse Tour highlights tales of brothels, epidemics and hangings.

The Britt Hill Tour features stories of murder, arson, saloons, and Oregon’s first Chinatown.

Tours will be offered the second Friday of each month from June through September with special October tours on the second Friday and Saturday.

Summer tours begin at 7, 7:15, 7:30, 7:45 p.m.
October tours begin at 6, 6:15, 6:30, and 6:45 p.m.

Both tours will be offered each night with alternating start times.

Private tours can also be scheduled for a minimum of 10 and maximum of 12 people at a cost of $15 per person. Date and time must be mutually agreed upon and are not available on public tour nights.

All tours begin at the Jacksonville Visitors Center at the corner of N. Oregon and West C streets.  Tour group size is limited!  Cost is $10 per person.

Tickets can be purchased on-line beginning May 1, 2024.  We look forward to once again sharing a very “spirited” look at Jacksonville’s history!
